Updates to the major commodities listing for international merchandise trade

Tables 12 and 13 of this publication present the major commodities for international merchandise trade exports (table 12) and imports (table 13). As part of an annual review, the following major commodities have been updated in this issue.

Table 12, International merchandise exports major commodities:

  • 012 Meat and edible meat offal, fresh, chilled or frozen (excl. meat of bovine animals)

replaces:
  • 334 Refined petroleum oils.

Table 13, International merchandise imports major commodities:
  • 741 Heating and cooling equipment and parts thereof, n.e.s.
  • 778 Electrical machinery and apparatus, n.e.s.
  • 874 Measuring, checking, analysing and controlling instruments and apparatus, n.e.s.

replace:
  • 625 Rubber tyres, treads, flaps and inner tubes for wheels
  • 723 Civil engineering and contractors' plant and equipment
  • 784 Parts and accessories of the motor vehicles.


CHANGES IN FORTHCOMING ISSUES

Change to country label

From the August 2014 issues there will be a label change to the country currently known as Cape Verde:

Cape Verde Cabo Verde



This change will impact time series spreadsheet table 2 and data cubes 8 and 9 of International Merchandise Imports, Australia (cat. no. 5439.0) and time series spreadsheet tables 14a, 14b, 36a - 36j and 37a - 37i of this publication. Detailed import and export statistics available on request will also be affected. This change only applies to the label and does not impact the composition of the country data.


Change to port label

From the August 2014 issues there will be a label change to the port currently known as All Ports-Cape Verde:

This change will impact on detailed import and export statistics available on request. This change only applies to the label and does not impact the composition of port data.


Revision to correspondence between AHECC and Standard International Trade Classification Revision 4

From the August 2014 issue of this publication minor amendments to the concordance between the Australian Harmonized Export Commodity Classification (AHECC) and the Standard International Trade Classification Revision 4 (SITC Rev. 4) will be implemented. These changes will impact on table 12 and time series spreadsheet tables 12a and 12b of this publication. These changes are described in Information Paper: Revision to correspondences to AHECC and Customs Tariff (cat. no. 5368.0.55.021) released on 23 June 2014.


Revision to correspondence between Customs Tariff and Standard International Trade Classification Revision 4

From the August 2014 issues minor amendments to the concordance between the Combined Australian Customs Tariff Nomenclature and Statistical Classification (Customs Tariff) and the Standard International Trade Classification Revision 4 (SITC Rev. 4) will be implemented. These changes will impact on time series spreadsheet tables 1, 3 and 7 and data cubes 8 and 9 of International Merchandise Imports, Australia (cat. no. 5439.0). Table 13 and time series spreadsheet tables 13a, 13b and 34 of this publication will also be impacted. These changes are described in Information Paper: Revision to correspondences to AHECC and Customs Tariff (cat. no. 5368.0.55.021) released on 23 June 2014.


Annual seasonal re-analysis

In the August 2014 issue of this publication the seasonally adjusted and trend estimates of goods and services on a balance of payments basis will be revised as a result of the annual seasonal re-analysis. This re-analysis reviews the seasonal and trading day factors in more detail than is possible in the monthly processing cycle and assesses the appropriateness of any prior corrections.
