This release contains revised PDF product that was previously released on Thursday 10 August 2006. This release corrects textual information in the Summary of Findings in order to support interpretation of a small number of the statistics presented. Tables 6 and 8 have been amended to correct a small number of cells where figures had been transposed or were incorrect. Footnotes have been added to several other tables to aid users in the interpretation of the data. No other data or information has been affected by these changes.

Users interested in Table 16, should note the following additional information which will aid interpretation of data relating to the perpetrator categories "family or friends" and "other known persons" as presented in this table:
Family or friends
Family or friends includes incidents of physical assault by a boy/girl friend or date and incidents where the other known perpetrator in the most recent incident of physical assault by an other known perpetrator was a father/mother, son/daughter, brother/sister, other relative or in-law, or friend.
Where a person experienced more than one incident of physical assault by an other known perpetrator, information is only collected about the perpetrator of the most recent incident of physical assault by an other known perpetrator. It is possible that a person may have experienced more than one incident of physical assault by different types of other known perpetrators: information is not available about a person's experience of physical assault for these previous incidents by other known perpetrator types.
Other known person
Other known person includes incidents where the other known perpetrator in the most recent incident of physical assault by an other known perpetrator was an acquaintance or neighbour, counsellor or psychologist or psychiatrist, ex-boyfriend or girlfriend, doctor, teacher, minister or priest or clergy, prison officer or other known person.
Where a person experienced more than one incident of physical assault by an other known perpetrator, information is only collected about the perpetrator of the most recent incident of physical assault by an other known perpetrator. It is possible that a person may have experienced more than one incident of physical assault by different types of other known perpetrators: information is not available about a person's experience of physical assault for these previous incidents by other known perpetrator types.
