Due for release on April 15, 2009 is the Third edition of the series Perspectives on Migrants (cat. no. 3416.0). This series provides informed commentary to assist those interested in issues related to migrants and migration to Australia. Released twice yearly, the latest edition contains four descriptive articles with a focus on trends in migration:
- Permanent Migration to Australia - An Overview by Eligibility Category; this article looks at the general trends in permanent migration by broad visa categories in terms of visa outcomes
- Skilled Migration; an article covering the key trends in skilled migration, both in the permanent and temporary programs with a focus on the characteristics and settlement outcomes of the main skill groups, and
- Migrant Characteristics and the Settlement Outcomes of Secondary Applicants article focuses on secondary migrants and their settlement outcomes as compared to that of the primary applicant, and
- Temporary Migrants in Australia; this article is an overview of the temporary migration program and broadly explains the types of temporary visas that exist and the differences between them.
