FINAL REBASED POPULATION ESTIMATES

This is the last release of preliminary rebased Estimated Resident Population (ERP) data based on the 2011 Census of Population and Housing. Final rebased estimates for the September 2006 - June 2011 period will be released on 20 June 2013. Recast estimates for the September 1991 - June 2006 period will also be released. For more information, see paragraph 7 of the Explanatory Notes.


UPDATES TO REGIONAL POPULATION ESTIMATES

Datacubes containing final rebased ERP from 2001 to 2011 will be released on 30 August 2013. Total estimates will be added to Regional Population Growth, Australia, 2011 (cat. no. 3218.0) and age/sex estimates will be added to Population by Age and Sex, Regions of Australia, 2011 (cat. no. 3235.0). Historical population estimates based on the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) will also be revised and released on this date.


NOTICE OF CHANGE TO REVISION CYCLE

Starting with the March 2013 issue scheduled for release on 26 September 2013, NOM revisions will change from a biannual to a quarterly revision cycle.

Demography News will be included in the hard-copy version of this publication as of the next release in June 2013.
