In August quarter 2009, females accounted for the majority of part-time workers (67.7%) in the Melbourne MSR. The majority of part-time workers (72.9%) preferred not to work additional hours, and this was a more common preference amongst females (76.8%) than males (64.4%).
In the Balance of Victoria MSR, the total number of part-time workers in August quarter 2009 was 224,800, an increase of 6,700 (3.1%) since August quarter 2008. The majority of these part-time workers (71.9%) preferred not to work more hours.
