Data profiles for current electorates now on ABS mobile app

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has today released an update to its popular “ABS Stats” Apple mobile application.

Using 2011 Census data, the “ABS Stats” app provides profiles for all current Commonwealth Electoral Divisions.

Deputy Australian Statistician, Mr Trevor Sutton said “we are very excited to relaunch our ABS mobile application.

“The app now lets you easily build a picture of an electorate’s people, families and dwellings simply by typing the electorate’s name or choosing the electorate from a pick list. You can also find it by using your current GPS location. Commonwealth Electoral boundaries are also displayed on a map.

“Information about all Commonwealth Electoral Divisions can be broken down by sex, age profile, citizenship, income, and marital status, as well as housing related information,” said Mr Sutton.

This new function is in addition to the already available latest key economic data such as the consumer price index (CPI), gross domestic product (GDP) and unemployment, along with 30 other indicators.

“Our application also provides an Australian population figure, updated in real time based on our latest population estimates,” Mr Sutton added.

Those who do not own an Apple mobile device can still get 2011 Census data for the current Commonwealth Electoral Divisions from our website. Details are available from this Census TableBuilder page.
