This is a subjective assessment made by the ABS that overlays areas of the conceptual framework with the nature and breadth of information collected in each data source. It is intended to assist readers to quickly assess whether further investigation of the data source is warranted given their particular purpose and research questions. It is not an indication of data quality and does not represent ABS endorsement of a data collection. It is important that readers also consider information contained within each data source entry about the methodology and public availability of data to make a more full assessment of whether a data source is fit for their purpose.

The assessment of the level of detail provided by each data collection against the Conceptual Framework forms the basis of the Framework search functionality. To search for data sources by Framework element or sub-element see the How to Use this Directory page .
