APPENDIX 2 INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATIONS

INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATIONS

The questions in the Disability Module are compatible with the Activities and Participation component of the International Classification of Functioning (ICF) and are based directly on the questions used to identify disability in the SDAC. The ICF is a classification used to describe and measure disability, not solely in terms of bodily malfunction, but in the context of the environment in which a person lives and interacts on a daily basis. Further information on the ICF can be found at http://www.who.int/classifications/icf/en/ .

The article also makes reference to measures in SET that are allied to Standard Australian Classifications in Education, Geography, Industry, Language and Occupations.

Further information on these classifications can be found in the Explanatory Notes of the publication, Education and Training Experience (cat. 6278.0).
