Chapter 10: Culture and Leisure

The 'Culture and Leisure' chapter discusses definitions of both culture and leisure, as well as discussing the connections between these areas. The relationship of both culture and leisure to individual and social wellbeing is discussed as are some of the key social issues that relate to these sectors. Population groups of interest are discussed. A possible framework for measuring culture and leisure participation is outlined, as is the ABS Time Use Framework which is used in the measurement of leisure. The Australian Culture and Leisure Classifications, which provide structures for producing measures of economic activity relating to culture and leisure are summarised. Key data sources are listed and summarised.
