INCOME SHARES

Despite the growth in capital services, the Retail industry is labour intensive, which is seen in the returns to capital and labour income shares in figure 9.8. The figure shows the there has been little change over the last twenty years with the capital income share at approximately 25%. However, the gap between labour and capital income appears to have widened somewhat in recent years.
