Issues have been identified with the coding of the 2012-13 NATSIHS data for the conditions 'Back pain/back problems, disc disorders', 'Diseases of the digestive system' and 'Injuries'. Analysis indicates that at the national level:

  • 'Back pain/problems, disc disorders' were under-reported by approximately 14,100 persons
  • 'Diseases of the digestive system' were over-reported by approximately 4,500 persons
  • 'Injuries' were over-reported by approximately 3,500 persons.

Therefore, 2012-13 data for these conditions are not comparable with other years. Updated data can be provided by contacting the National Information and Referral Service on 1300 135 070.
