    OVERVIEW
    This survey is funded by the Office of National Tourism (ONT) and was conducted in 1992-93, 1994-95 and 1996-97. Subject to continued user funding and the statistical priorities of the ONT, it is expected that the survey will again be conducted for future years. The survey population is derived from lists provided to the ABS by the ONT and comprises businesses which could potentially involved in marketing Australian tourism product overseas. The survey provides data, at the Australian level, on the amount spent overseas on marketing by businesses involved in tourism.

    PURPOSE
    Results from the collection are used to provide governments and industry with broad information on overseas marketing of Australian tourism products. The information is used for policy formulation purposes.

    SCOPE
    The target population for the survey is all Australian businesses expending money overseas on marketing their products. Coverage is derived from lists provided to the ABS by the Office of National Tourism. While it is suspected that there is some under coverage, this is expected to be very small. All the major 'players' are included in the collection.

    The population for the survey is derived from lists provided to the ABS by the Office of National Tourism (ONT) within DIST. The population comprises tourism related businesses who potentially spent money overseas on marketing their product.
