The main change in metallic mineral production from 2002-03 to 2003-04 was a major decrease in tin production due to the closure of the Renison mine. The Renison mine was subsequently purchased by Bluestone Nominees Pty Ltd, who were restoring the mine’s infrastructure and planned to resume production by the end of 2004. From 2002-03 to 2003-04 there was a 43.4% increase in gold production with both the Henty and Beaconsfield gold mines recording record production levels.
