Average weekly earnings are statistics representing average gross weekly earnings (before tax) of employees. The estimates are derived by dividing estimates of weekly total earnings by estimates of number of employees.

At May 2004, the average weekly total earnings figure for all employed Tasmanian males was $777.80, an increase of 1.4% on the May 2003 figure. In the same period, the average weekly total earnings figure for all employed Tasmanian females was $537.20, an increase of 9.7% on the $489.90 recorded at May 2003.
