STANDARD OUTPUT CATEGORIES

23. 'Principal source of cash income' can be output at any level of the classification supported by estimates.

24. In practice, it is seldom possible to output data below the broadest level of the classification. The minimum standard output categories are:

Employee cash income
Unincorporated business cash income
Government cash pensions and allowances
Other cash income
Total*
*Includes units with nil or negative income

25. Certain HES output disaggregates Government pensions and allowances. The standard output is:
Principal source of cash income
Employee cash income
Unincorporated business cash income
Government cash pensions and allowances
Allowances for students and the unemployed
Centrelink pensions for the aged and persons with a disability
Other Government cash pensions and allowances
Other cash income
Total*
*Includes units with nil or negative income

26. It is anticipated that some collections may need to disaggregate Superannuation:

Principal source of cash income
Employee cash income
Unincorporated business cash income
Government cash pensions and allowances
Other cash income
Superannuation/annuities
Other
Total*
*Includes units with nil or negative income

27. The 'Other cash income' line comprises the sum of the two subcategories. Where estimates do not support output of 'Other', i.e. the balance of 'Other cash income' after disaggregation of Superannuation/annuities, this line may be omitted and the 'Other cash income' line footnoted to indicate that it incorporates Property cash income, Transfers from private organisations, Transfers from other households and Scholarships, as well as Superannuation/annuities.
