In 2001-02, the Office of the Tasmanian Ombudsman closed 106 complaints about the administrative actions of local government authorities in the Greater Hobart-Southern Region.

The majority of complaints in the Greater Hobart-Southern Region were closed due to no defective administration (36 complaints, representing 34.0% of total complaints closed), followed by discontinuation, withdrawal or lapse (30 complaints, representing 28.3% of total complaints closed). Some 12 complaints were substantiated or partly substantiated, representing 11.3% of total complaints closed.

In 2001-02, the Clarence local government area recorded the greatest number of complaints closed with 21 complaints, representing 19.8% of all complaints closed, followed by Hobart with 19 complaints (17.9% of all complaints closed) and then Kingborough with 14 complaints (13.2% of all complaints closed).
