QUALITY DECLARATION - SUMMARY
INSTITUTIONAL ENVIRONMENT
Confidentialised Unit Record Files (CURFs) are released in accordance with the conditions specified in the Statistics Determination section of the Census and Statistics Act 1905 (CSA). This ensures that confidentiality is maintained whilst enabling micro level data to be released. RELEVANCE
Microdata from the Labour Force and Labour Mobility Surveys are available as both Basic and Expanded CURFs.
Labour Force Survey data are a key element of labour market and other economic information. The principal objective is to facilitate the analysis and monitoring of social and economic aspects of the Australian labour market and working age population.
The Labour Mobility Survey microdata contains detailed information about people aged 15 years and over who, in the 12 months to February of the reference year, had a change in employer/business or had some change in work. While the scope of the survey includes people aged 15 years and over who were working at some time in the 12 months to February 2012, much of the data focuses on people who were working at February 2012.
The survey is the only source of data on labour force mobility over a twelve month period and is a major source of data for analysing the dynamic nature of the labour force.

TIMELINESS
The most recent Labour Mobility Survey was conducted throughout Australia during February 2012. Labour Mobility CURFs have been released biennially since 2006. Microdata products are released approximately 12 months after enumeration is completed.
ACCURACY
The Labour Force Survey and Labour Mobility CURF generally contains finer levels of detail of data items than what is otherwise published in Labour Mobility, Australia (cat. no. 6209.0). | Steps to confidentialise the microdata are taken in such a way as to maximise the usefulness of the content while maintaining the confidentiality of respondents selected in the survey. As a result, it may not be possible to exactly reconcile all the statistics produced from the microdata with other published statistics. COHERENCE
The ABS conducted the first Labour Mobility Survey in November 1972. Since February 1992 the survey has been conducted biennially. Results from most recent survey,
Labour Mobility, Australia (cat. no. 6209.0) were released in September 2012.
The conceptual framework used for this survey is described in
Chapter 21.7 of
Labour Statistics: Concepts, Sources and Methods (cat. no. 6102.0.55.001). The statistics in this survey are comparable with other labour statistics produced by the ABS.
