ABS CD-ROM shows where the cars (and trucks and buses) are A new CD-ROM released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics provides easy access to comprehensive data on the Australian motor vehicle fleet. TranStats has combined vehicle data from the annual Motor Vehicle Census and monthly New Motor Vehicle Registration collections from 1995-1997 with key economic and demographic data from the Population Census, allowing users to identify types and locations of vehicles throughout Australia. Examples of output which can be produced include:
Data can be compared with Population Census statistics including numbers of persons, population density, and income. The CD-ROM comes complete with ABS Integrated Regional Data Base (IRDB) software and optional mapping facilities. It can generate information in tables, graphs or maps. Data can be exported into most spreadsheet and database formats, and other data can be imported and mapped. TranStats is compatible with existing IRDB and AgStats products. The CD-ROM is a valuable resource for people needing to know detailed information about motor vehicles in Australia, including manufacturers and distributors of vehicles or spare parts, vehicle repairers, used car dealers and spare parts retailers. TranStats is available in variable packages to suit the user's needs and priced according to the level of data required.
