Revisions to labour force estimates

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today released revised employment and unemployment statistics. The revisions follow the annual reanalysis of seasonal factors undertaken by the ABS and affects seasonally adjusted and trend labour force estimates from February 1978 to January 2000. The reanalysis of seasonal factors incorporates the most recent 12 months of labour force data.

The following table shows the previously published and the revised seasonally adjusted estimates of employed persons and the unemployment rate for the period January 1999 to January 2000.
