Purpose
To provide an indicative assessment of the quality of travel choices for commuters travelling to and from the Parramatta CBD.
Description
This survey examines travel time efficiency of the car compared to alternative transport modes. A travel time survey was undertaken by NRMA and Bicycle NSW comparing the travel times of car, bicycle and public transport in peak periods.
The survey involved collection of travel time information for car trips and non-car trips between Parramatta CBD and seven regional centres during June and July 1997. The travel times for cars and bicycles were collected by physical surveys, whilst public transport times were determined using timetable information.
A similar survey was conducted for travel to Sydney CBD. See Sydney Multimode Travel Time Survey.

Geographic Coverage
Parramatta CBD and seven regional centres (Pennant Hills, Ryde, Strathfield, Bankstown, Cabramatta, Blacktown and Castle Hill).
