SEPTEMBER KEY POINTS
QUARTERLY ESTIMATES
- For the September quarter 2009, there were 72 disputes, 14 more than in the June quarter 2009.
- The number of employees involved in industrial disputes in the September quarter 2009 was 18,000, a decrease from 43,900 in the June quarter 2009.
- There were 29,100 working days lost due to industrial disputation in the September quarter 2009, a decrease from 47,300 in the June quarter 2009.
- The Education and training and Health care and social assistance industries accounted for 8,100 (28%) of the total number of working days lost in the September quarter 2009.
- In the September quarter 2009, New South Wales accounted for 11,200 (38%) of working days lost. Victoria had the highest number of working days lost per thousand employees (4.2) for the quarter, followed closely by New South Wales (3.8).
YEAR ENDED ESTIMATES
- During the year ended September 2009, there were 207 disputes, 35 more than in the year ended September 2008.
- During the year ended September 2009, there were 119,100 working days lost compared with 189,800 in the year ended September 2008.
