SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS
- Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals to Australia during March 2010 (489,700 movements) increased 0.3% compared with February 2010 (488,100 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.5% for January 2010 and 0.4% for February 2010.
- Currently, trend estimates for arrivals are 4.9% higher than in March 2009.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During March 2010, arrivals (494,500 movements) recorded an increase of 1.5% compared with February 2010 (487,200 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 0.8% for January 2010 and a monthly increase of 1.0% for February 2010.
- Original estimates: There were 528,300 arrivals to Australia in March 2010.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES
- Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures from Australia during March 2010 (569,200 movements) increased 0.9% compared with February 2010 (564,200 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.8% for January 2010 and 0.9% for February 2010.
- Currently, trend estimates for departures are 21.7% higher than in March 2009. Note that trend breaks were introduced from April 2009 - see Explanatory Notes, paragraph 25.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During March 2010, departures (586,700 movements) increased by 5.9% compared with February 2010 (554,100 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 1.2% for January 2010 and a monthly decrease of 0.5% for February 2010.
- Original estimates: There were 558,700 departures from Australia during March 2010.
