INTRODUCTION

This information paper describes changes to the identifiers used in the time series spreadsheets presented with Average Weekly Earnings, Australia (cat. no. 6302.0). All users of these spreadsheets should read this information paper before the release of the May 2015 issue on 13 August 2015.

CHANGE TO TIME SERIES SPREADSHEETS

The current process for producing the Average Weekly Earnings time series spreadsheets requires clerical intervention by staff from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The clerical intervention increases the risk that a release will be delayed or will not include the correct data. The clerical process has now been largely automated with the automated process to be introduced, after extensive testing, with the May 2015 issue.

While the introduction of the automated process will not change the layout of, or data presented in, the spreadsheets a new series identifier has been allocated to each series. Clients that use these identifiers will need to update their systems to access the new spreadsheets.

A concordance between the current series identifiers and the new series identifiers is available from the Downloads tab. In each case there is a one to one relationship between the current and new identifiers. The change in series identifiers affects all time series spreadsheets (i.e. tables 1 to 14H) but not the data cubes. Also provided under the Downloads tab are blank templates of the spreadsheets with the new identifiers.

The new series identifiers will be introduced with the release of the May 2015 issue of Average Weekly Earnings, Australia due for release on 13 August 2015.
