Microdata are the most detailed information available from a survey and are generally the responses to individual questions on the questionnaire or data derived from two or more questions. This level of detail is released with the approval of the Australian Statistician.

The following microdata products are available from this survey:
  • TableBuilder - helps users customise and export tables of weighted counts, proportions and other mathematical functions.
  • DataLab - approved users can access a remote desktop environment for in-depth analysis using a range of statistical software packages.
  • Basic CURF - datasets available on MicrodataDownload.

Further information about these services, and other information to assist users in understanding and accessing microdata in general, is available from the Microdata Entry Page.

Before you apply for access, you should read and familiarise yourself with the information contained in the Responsible Use of ABS Microdata, User Guide.

To apply for access and subscribe to the TableBuilder product use the How to Apply for Microdata.

To apply for access to the DataLab, please register using the 'How to Apply for Microdata' link above and contact microdata.access@abs.gov.au to arrange a session.
