USING TABLEBUILDER

INTRODUCTION

For general information relating to TableBuilder or instructions on how to use features of the TableBuilder product, please refer to the TableBuilder, User Guide (cat. no. 1406.0.55.005).

KNOWN ISSUES WITH TABLEBUILDER FOR MOTOR VEHICLE USE, AUSTRALIA

To ensure confidentiality, the Motor Vehicle Use, Australia, 2016 TableBuilder product has been released as two separate datasets. Motor Vehicle Use, 2016 contains summations of Kilometres travelled, Tonnes carried, Tonne-kilometres travelled and Fuel consumed with all 12 classifications available for cross tabulation. Motor Vehicle Use, 2016 - Number of vehicles contains the summation of Number of vehicles and can be cross tabulated by three classifications.

A complete data item list can be accessed from the Downloads page.

Mandatory field and totals

The Motor Vehicle Use, Australia, 2016 TableBuilder contains a mandatory field called Total, which is from the Use Type fields contained in the Use level. By default this field will be present in any new table. Due to some Use types being sub totals, the automatic total function in this product has been turned off for Use types, with totals being generated through the mandatory field of Total.

The ABS does not recommend users consider more than 4 variables when constructing tables. Although results will be produced, due to the level of disaggregation, estimates will have high RSEs (Relative Standard Errors) and results maybe sparse.

Estimates with an RSE between 25% and 50% are considered to be high and should be used with caution. Estimates with an RSE higher than 50% are considered unreliable for general use.

Some results may be sparse and produce zero but have an associated RSE, this is because they have been rounded to the nearest unit of measurement. This can occur for kilometres travelled (millions), tonne-kilometres travelled (millions), tonnes carried (thousands) and fuel consumed (millions).

For more information about Large Table mode, see the TableBuilder, User Guide (cat. no. 1406.0.55.005).
