MONTHLY SEASONALLY ADJUSTED AND TREND ESTIMATES


NEW SOUTH WALES

There has been moderate trend growth for the last four months. Food retailing (eight months) and Hospitality and services (three months) have had moderate growth. Department stores had strong growth in February following two months of moderate growth and Household good retailing has had strong growth for five months.

VICTORIA

Victoria had weak trend growth in February 2007 following five months of moderate growth. Food retailing (two months), Clothing and soft good retailing (two months) and Household good retailing (six months) have had moderate growth. Recreational good retailing has had strong growth for five months. Department stores had strong growth in February, while Other retailing and Hospitality and services were in decline.

QUEENSLAND

Queensland has had moderate trend growth for the last three months. Food retailing has had moderate trend growth for five months, while Department stores (three months) and Household good retailing (ten months) have had strong trend growth. Recreational good retailing has had two months of weak growth, while the other industries have been in decline for at least eight months.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

The trend growth has been moderate for 12 months. Food retailing (three months), Department stores (four months), Clothing and soft good retailing (ten months) and Household good retailing (five months) have had moderate growth. Other retailing has had five months of strong trend growth, while Recreational good retailing and Hospitality and services have been in decline for ten months.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The trend growth has been strong for 14 months. Food retailing (five months), Hospitality and services (14 months) and Other retailing (15 months) have had strong trend growth. Department stores had strong trend growth in February 2007 following three months of moderate growth, while Recreational good retailing was in decline in February.

TASMANIA

The trend growth has been weak in the last two months. Hospitality and services (five months), Recreational good retailing (four months) and Clothing and soft good retailing (four months) have been in decline, while Food retailing has had strong trend growth in the last two months.
