The chart below shows the trend series and seasonally adjusted series to February 2017.

In current prices, the trend estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.1% in February 2017 following a rise of 0.2% in January 2017 and a rise of 0.2% in December 2016.

The seasonally adjusted estimate for Australian turnover fell 0.1% in February 2017 following a rise of 0.4% in January 2017 and a fall of 0.1% in December 2016.

The original estimate for Australian turnover fell 10.6% in February 2017. The original estimate for chains and other larger retailers fell 12.9% in February 2017. The original estimate for smaller retailers fell 5.6% in February 2017.

TOTAL RETAIL - BY STATE

The following states and territories rose in trend terms in February 2017: New South Wales (0.1%), Victoria (0.2%), South Australia (0.3%), Western Australia (0.1%), Tasmania (0.1%), the Northern Territory (0.3%), and the Australian Capital Territory (0.1%). Queensland (-0.1%) fell in trend terms in February 2017.

The following states and territories fell in seasonally adjusted terms in February 2017: Western Australia (-0.7%), Victoria (-0.3%), Queensland (-0.2%), Tasmania (-0.5%), and the Australian Capital Territory (-0.5%). The following states and territories rose in seasonally adjusted terms in February 2017: New South Wales (0.4%), the Northern Territory (0.4%), and South Australia (0.1%).
