Overall, 42% of businesses introduced at least one type of innovation in 2013-14 with goods or services (24%) the most common type introduced. By industry, Accommodation and food services and Wholesale trade had the highest proportion of innovating businesses (57%), while Agriculture, forestry and fishing had the lowest (27%). Accommodation and food services had the highest proportion of businesses with goods or services introduced (41%), while Wholesale trade had the highest proportion of businesses that introduced operational processes (28%). Businesses in the Financial and insurance services industry were the most likely to have introduced organisational/managerial processes (28%), while businesses in the Arts and recreation services industry were the most likely to have introduced marketing methods (30%). The Agriculture, forestry and fishing and Mining industries had the lowest proportion of businesses that introduced goods or services (both 12%). The Other services industry had the lowest proportion of businesses that introduced operational processes (10%). Businesses in the Agriculture, forestry and fishing industry were also the least likely to have introduced organisational/managerial processes (9%) and marketing methods (5%).
