LABOUR FORCE UNDERUTILISATION RATE TREND ESTIMATES


MALES

The trend estimate of the underutilisation rate for males has generally fallen from 12.8% in August 2001 to 8.0% in May 2008 before rising to 12.2% in August 2009. The trend has since fallen to 10.0% in May 2011.

FEMALES

The trend estimate of the underutilisation rate for females rose from 15.6% in May 2001 to 16.1% in November 2001. The trend then fell to 15.4% in August 2002, before rising to 15.7% in February 2004. The trend then fell to 12.3% in May 2008 before rising to 15.3% in August 2009. The trend has since fallen to 14.4% in May 2011.

PERSONS

The trend estimate of the underutilisation rate for persons rose from 13.9% in May 2001 to 14.2% in November 2001. The trend then fell to 10.0% in May 2008 before rising to 13.6% in August 2009. The trend has since fallen to 12.0% in May 2011.
