GENERAL GOVERNMENT SECTOR EXPENSES BY PURPOSE


Total general government expenses for all levels of government were $624,337m in 2016-17. The major contributors were expenditure on Social security and welfare (27.3%), Health (19.8%), Education (14.6%) and General public services (6.3%).
