This publication presents information on environmental behaviour and practices of Australian households. Three environmental themes are rotated over three years: energy use and conservation, waste management and transport use, and water use and conservation. Data are collected from households and individuals via the ABS' monthly population survey.

This 2006 edition focuses on "Waste Management and Transport Use". It presents data on household recycling and reuse of waste, methods of disposal of hazardous waste and use/non-use of private and public transport. Households' attitudes on maintaining and purchasing motor vehicles are also included.

Results from similar past surveys (1996, 2000 and 2003), where applicable, have been included in the publication for purposes of comparison.
