TASMANIA

  • In 2016-17, nine of the ten SA2s with the largest population increases in Tasmania were within Greater Hobart. The SA2 of Sorell - Richmond, in Hobart's north-east, had the largest growth in terms of absolute numbers (170 people), followed by Rokeby in the east and Brighton - Pontville in the north (both 160).
  • Five of the ten fastest-growing SA2s in Tasmania in 2016-17 were located in Greater Hobart. Old Beach - Otago on the eastern shore of Hobart was the fastest-growing, up by 3.2%, followed by Brighton - Pontville (2.9%).
  • Outside of Greater Hobart, the largest and fastest growth occurred around the city of Devonport. Port Sorell, on the coast to the east of Devonport had the largest growth (up 150 people), while Miandetta - Don, to the west, had the fastest (2.7%).
