RELEASE OF REGIONAL POPULATION GROWTH, AUSTRALIA, 2007–08 (CAT. NO. 3218.0)
Preliminary estimates of the populations residing in regions of Australia as at 30 June 2008 will be released on 23 April 2009 in Regional Population Growth, Australia, 2007-08 (cat. no. 3218.0). This product will also contain estimates as at 30 June each year from 2001 to 2007, based on the 2008 edition of the Australian Standard Geographical Classification. Estimates from 2001 to 2006 will be final and the estimates for 2007 will be revised to align with the new June 2007 state and territory population estimates which will be released in Australian Demographic Statistics, Australia, Sep 2008 (cat. no. 3101.0) on 18 March 2009. Population estimates for every Local Government Area and Statistical Local Area in Australia will be freely available on the ABS website along with commentary on population change at various geographical levels and average annual growth rates. Estimates of the resident populations of other geographic areas, such as postal areas, will be available on request by contacting the National Information and Referral Service on 1300 135 070.
Preliminary population estimates for June 2008 by sex and five-year age groups are intended to be released in August 2009 in Population by Age and Sex, Regions of Australia, 2008 (cat. no. 3235.0).
