CHANGES IN THIS ISSUE

From 2005-06, the survey scope has been altered to:

  • Include businesses classified to Division A (Agriculture, forestry and fishing) of the Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC), 1993 (cat. no. 1292.0); and
  • Exclude businesses with expenditure on R&D of less than $100,000 in the reference period.

For further detail on the changes to survey scope, see paragraph 15-16 of the Explanatory Notes.


Type of activity data are now collected on an annual basis (previously every two years) and are included in this publication for the 2004-05 and 2005-06 reference periods.


With the release of this issue, time series spreadsheets of publication level data have been made available from the ABS web site <https://www.abs.gov.au>.



DATA QUALITY

When interpreting the results in this publication it is important to take into account factors that may affect the reliability of estimates. These factors are described in the Non-sampling error section in the Technical Note.


There have been revisions to 2003-04 and 2004-05 data this cycle. See the Revisions section of the Technical Note for further detail.
