The key focus is to understand the policy and industry context in which our users operate and apply this knowledge to ensure that the statistics remain relevant and readily accessible in appropriate formats. Responsibilities - prime carriage of the interests of the National Statistics Service (as defined in the ABS Corporate Plan), establish and maintain close links with key external clients, provision of leadership in the development of statistics within and outside the ABS, maintain knowledge of current and emerging issues, gain knowledge of national and international statistical frameworks and standards, understand the depth and breadth of statistics collected outside the ABS, conduct complex analytical work and revolutionary R & D, and specify broad parameters of a set of user needs to the Business Statistics Centre. Canberra NSC Director: Allan Nicholls Phone: 02 6252 5339 Hobart Office: Role - Hobart Office houses the Business Statistics Centre (BSC) and is required to delivery a quality agricultural statistical product i.e. outputs. Responsibilities - specify collection methods and output requirements using 'best practice'; editing and data confrontation, produce publications - including the appropriate data analysis, metadata and storage and provide 'special data services' for more complex client requests. The BSC also takes responsibility for understanding and applying appropriate frameworks, classifications, standards and concepts, and, specification of data and quality requirements.
