CHANGES THIS MONTH

This issue of Labour Force, Australia, Detailed, Quarterly (cat. no. 6291.0.55.003) includes three spreadsheets that had previously been released in Australian Labour Market Statistics (cat. no. 6105.0). These spreadsheets will be released in this publication each quarter and contain information on:

    • Employed persons: actual hours worked in all jobs;
    • Unemployed persons: reason for unemployment by industry and occupation of last job; and
    • Underemployed: industry and occupation.

These will be shown as excel tables, numbered Table 17, 18 and 19, in the Downloads tab.

This is part of a move towards incorporating data tables from Australian Labour Market Statistics (cat. no. 6105.0) into other ABS standard products, such as Labour Force, Australia, Detailed, Quarterly. As announced in the April 2012 issue of Australian Labour Market Statistics (cat. no. 6105.0), the publication will continue on an irregular basis to publish data tables not contained in other standard ABS products. The data tables:
    • Extended labour force underutilisation rate;
    • Volume measures of labour underutilisation; and
    • Employment type time series
will continue to be released annually.

Data from the monthly Labour Force Survey are released in two stages. The Labour Force, Australia, Detailed - Electronic Delivery (cat. no. 6291.0.55.001) and Labour Force, Australia, Detailed, Quarterly (cat. no. 6291.0.55.003) are part of the second release, and include detailed data not contained in the Labour Force, Australia (cat. no. 6202.0) product set, which is released one week earlier.

The Labour Force, Australia, Detailed - Electronic Delivery (cat. no. 6291.0.55.001) is released monthly. Labour Force, Australia, Detailed, Quarterly (cat. no. 6291.0.55.003) includes data only collected in February, May, August and November (including industry and occupation).

Since these products are based on the same data as the Labour Force, Australia (cat. no. 6202.0) publication, the 6202.0 Labour Force, Australia Main Features are relevant to both releases.
