REVIEW OF DETAILED LABOUR FORCE DATA - QUARTERLY EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT AND SECTOR DATA
The ABS is currently reviewing the usage of Labour Force data contained within the detailed monthly and quarterly releases (6291.0.55.001 and 6291.0.55.003), with an initial focus on quarterly educational attainment data and quarterly public and private sector data. The ABS is keen to hear from users of educational attainment and sector data, at email@example.com, including how you use the data and the extent to which they meet your requirements.
NEW LABOUR FORCE SURVEY SAMPLE
As previously highlighted, the ABS is currently phasing in a new sample design. This began with the incoming rotation group in July 2018 and will continue through to February 2019. An information paper titled Information Paper: Labour Force Survey Sample Design, Jul 2018 (cat. no. 6269.0) was released on 30 July 2018 with detailed information on the new sample. As with each regular sample design, the impacts on the data are expected to be minimal and the ABS will monitor the quality of the estimates over the period the sample is phased in.
CESSATION OF 'WHAT IF'
Following a review of products released within Labour Force, Australia (cat. no. 6202.0), the ABS confirmed the very limited use of the 'What If' information. Furthermore, the insights this product provides into trend revision scenarios are consistent over time, with previous 'What If' analysis providing a similarly useful guide to trend revisions.
The December 2018 issue is the first issue without the 'What If' information. This brings Labour Force, Australia (cat.no. 6202.) into alignment with other releases from the ABS.

Estimates of changes in the commentary have been calculated using unrounded estimates, and may be different from, but are more accurate than, movement obtained from the rounded estimates. Graphs also depict unrounded estimates.
The estimates in this publication are based on a sample survey. Published estimates and movements are subject to sampling variability. Standard errors give a measure of sampling variability. The interval bounded by two standard errors is the 95% confidence interval, which provides a way of looking at the variability inherent in estimates. There is a 95% chance that the true value of the estimate lies within that interval.
