• In original terms, the November 2011 merchandise imports were $21,479m, an increase of $720m (3%) on the October 2011 merchandise imports of $20,759m.

• Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms rose $596m (3%) between October and November 2011. In seasonally adjusted terms goods debits rose $56m from $20,757m in October 2011 to $20,813m in November 2011. Capital goods rose $305m (6%), driven by the civil aircraft and confidentialised items component which was up $576m following a fall of $320m (48%) between September and October 2011. Non-monetary gold fell $214m (24%), intermediate and other merchandise goods fell $19m and consumption goods fell $16m.
