BALANCE ON GOODS AND SERVICES
- In trend terms, the balance on goods and services was a surplus of $721m in May 2013, an increase of $249m (53%) on the surplus in April 2013.
- In seasonally adjusted terms, the balance on goods and services was a surplus of $670m in May 2013, an increase of $499m (292%) on the surplus in April 2013.
CREDITS (EXPORTS OF GOODS AND SERVICES)
- In seasonally adjusted terms, goods and services credits rose $914m (4%) to $26,444m. Non–rural goods rose $682m (4%), non–monetary gold rose $135m (10%) and rural goods rose $58m (2%). Net exports of goods under merchanting remained steady at $12m. Services credits rose $39m (1%).
DEBITS (IMPORTS OF GOODS AND SERVICES)
- In seasonally adjusted terms, goods and services debits rose $414m (2%) to $25,774m. Consumption goods rose $357m (7%) and intermediate and other merchandise goods rose $351m (4%). Capital goods fell $290m (5%) and non–monetary gold fell $15m (3%). Services debits rose $10m.

REVISIONS
Revisions have been made to incorporate the latest data relating to international trade in goods and services since the last issue of this publication:
- on an international merchandise trade basis, exports and imports have been revised back to November 2012
- on a balance of payments basis, goods credits and debits have been revised back to October 2012, and services credits and debits back to July 2012.
Table 17 summarises revisions to goods and services on a balance of payments basis, in original current price terms, since the last issue of this publication. In original terms, the revisions have increased the deficit on goods and services for the ten months to April 2013 by $360m.
CHANGES IN THIS ISSUE
CHANGES TO LABEL FOR TREATMENT CODE 821
From this issue the label for treatment code 821 has been changed from 'Goods imported under the Texco scheme' to 'Goods specified in a tradex order imported by the holder of the tradex order'.
VALUE ADJUSTMENTS
Adjustments have been made to the value of the 'capital goods n.e.s.' component in the balance of payments series.
