REVIEW OF ANNUAL INDUSTRIES SURVEY PROGRAM
As mentioned in the previous newsletter the introduction of the Annual Integrated Collection (AIC) means that most of the ABS annual business surveys, including former Service Industry Surveys (SIS) will now be conducted using a common platform. The annual review process undertaken by the ABS will continue to identify priority areas and surveys will be conducted within available resource limits.
The latest update of the SIS program was in 2005 and determined the SIS program for the three years ending in 2008-09 financial year. The next review has commenced but now includes all industries (with the exception of Agriculture, Manufacturing and Mining). The ABS will be seeking input from users to assist in the shaping of the future AIC-SIS program for 2009-10 onwards. Consultation sessions will be held in most capital cities in December 2008.
