Purpose
To provide commercial vehicle industry members and other interested parties with detailed monthly reports on new truck sales by make/model and within market segment.

Description
Truck Tracker was set up by the Commercial Vehicle Committee of the FCAI to provide an effective means of reporting new truck sales. The previous system was based on registration data gathered from various State jurisdictions. The truck tracker system is based on retail reporting by all member companies, with this information being audited by the ABS.

  • Date of retail;
  • Town name (locality);
  • Buyer type (private, fleet-government, non-government);
  • Vehicle details:
  • Vehicle identification number (VIN);
  • Make;
  • Model;
  • Generation;
  • Grade;
  • Body style;
  • Axle configuration;
  • Engine displacement;
  • Cylinders;
  • Maximum engine power;
  • Fuel type;
  • Transmission type;
  • Number of forward gears;
  • Wheels;
  • Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM);
  • Gross Combination Mass (GCM); and
  • Country of origin.

Geographic Coverage
Australia, States and Territories, metro/rural, post code location.

Frequency of Data Availability
Data are collected daily and released monthly (on the fifth working day of the month).

Data are available from 1991.

Other
Email, floppy disk (both in Excel, Lotus or ASCII) and hardcopy reports. There are standard service reports, which provide a comprehensive view of industry performance, however specialist reports can be quoted. These may be subject to restriction of information as determined by the policy of FCAI's Commercial Vehicle Committee
