In 2003-04, there was an average of 44,800 people employed in the Mersey-Lyell Region. Of these, 26,300 were males (58.7% of people employed) and 18,500 were females (41.3% of people employed).
From 2002-03 to 2003-04, the number of people employed in the Region increased by an estimated 2,400, or 5.7%.
Some 71.4% of people employed in the Mersey-Lyell Region in 2003-04 were employed full-time. Some 87.8% of employed males were employed full-time and 48.1% of employed females were employed full-time.
