Q. Where do I start to find information relevant to my purpose?
A. A good place to start is the 'First Visit' page of the ABS website. This page gives you a good overview on what information the ABS collects, what is charged and what is free.
Q. How do I search the ABS website?
A. The ABS website has over 365,000 pages and more than 120,000 downloadable files, and it's growing. To help you find information the ABS provides customised access to Google's search engine. Google searches through all of these pages for 'key words' and returns to you the most relevant documents found. To find out more about effective search techniques visit Help.
Q. Can I search for information on particular topics?
A. You can go straight to the 'Statistics' page of the website where you can view the full range of ABS products and browse for information by Catalogue number, by Date, Topic or Title.
Q. Is there an easy way to stay informed about ABS releases?
A. The ABS Email Notification Service enables you to register your interest to receive email alerts on updates to a particular topic of your choice. This service is free and allows you to keep up to date with the latest ABS information without having to regularly check the ABS website.
To subscribe to this service visit the Create/Update Subscription page and follow the instructions found on that page.
Q. How do I use RSS feeds?
A. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an alternative way to view the latest statistical information released on the ABS website. See RSS to learn more.
