Q. Can I share data from the ABS website with other people?

A. All data produced by the ABS is covered by Copyright, however most content of the ABS website carries a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 Australia licence. This means you are free to reuse and share it, even commercially, as long as you attribute the ABS as the source of the information. More details, including exceptions, and information on how to attribute the ABS, can be found on our website Copyright page.


Q. Do I need a licence to share the data I purchase from the ABS Consultancy Service?

A. Yes, you do need a licence to share data purchased via the ABS Consultancy Service. Most licences are provided free of charge. The ABS expects to be introducing Creative Commons licensing for most customised data purchased from 1 July 2010. For more information please contact:
