Q. Does the ABS collect information specific to Government use?
A. Yes, the ABS recognises the importance of providing information to assist government in planning and delivering services in their communities. ABS clients in the Local Government sector include individual councils, groups of councils, and the state/territory and Australian Local Government Associations.
The ABS also provides information on training and services specific to States, along with information tailored to Federal Government designed to assist policy and decision makers.
As a part of its tailored services, the ABS offers customised data for statistical and research purposes by combining nationally significant datasets through the Statistical Data Integration Service. The ABS is a Commonwealth accredited Integrating Authority, with the infrastructure and expertise to enable it to undertake high risk data integration projects.
