| Tom Joseph joined the ABS in 1979 and has worked in various economic statistics and client services areas in Central Office and in the Western Australia Regional Office. In 2002, he was appointed as Director of the Labour Employer Surveys Business Statistics Centre and for six years led the business surveys program relating to labour market statistics.
Tom has been in the role of Regional Director of the Northern Territory Office since April 2009. He is responsible for working closely with Northern Territory government agencies to support the statistical needs of the Territory Government. He is also responsible for improving the Census 2011 enumeration outcomes in Northern Australia, particularly with regard to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population. He represents the ABS on a number of statistical coordination and advisory forums with the Territory Government and Australian Government agencies in the Northern Territory.
