Lily Viertmann joined the Australian Bureau of Statistics on 2 November 2015.

Lily has over 20 years experience in financial management in the Commonwealth and the State public service, managing budgets of up to $6.7 billion. As the Chief Finance Officer and Chief Risk Officer of the ABS, Lily has responsibility for financial planning and strategy, financial operations and controls, financial reporting, procurement and contract management, enterprise project management, benefits realisation, property and facilities management, policy and legislation, risk and planning.

Lily has previously held senior executive roles with Queensland Treasury, Defence Materiel Organisation, Workplace Authority and Department of Environment.

Lily has a degree in Economics from Monash University and a Master in Business Administration majoring in Financial Management from University of Queensland. Lily is also a Fellow of CPA Australia, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a finalist in the 2012 ACT Telstra Business Women’s Awards.
