Senior Staff Biography - Judy Henson, Regional Director Victorian Office

Judy Henson was appointed to the role of Regional Director of the Victorian Office and Program Manager of Crime and Justice Statistics in February 2014.

Judy is responsible for the overall management of the Victorian office and works closely with Victorian Government agencies to support their statistical needs. The Victorian office has over 300 staff and is located in Melbourne. The office has a diverse work program including: Annual Industry Statistics; Business Register Unit; ABS Corporate Services (National Work Health and Safety, and Travel and Accounts); National Centre for Crime and Justice Statistics; Population Surveys and Prices Operations; State and Territory Statistical Services; Statistical Capability Development as well as corporate and technology services.

Judy commenced in the Central Office of the ABS in Canberra in 1981 and brings to the role a broad range of statistical program, project and people management experience. For a period of more than 30 years, Judy has worked on a number of economic and social statistics programs, as well as leading some organisational change programs, statistical infrastructure projects and corporate roles. Her previous senior appointments were as Assistant Statistician of Prices Branch, and Assistant Statistician of International Accounts and Financial Statistical Branch. For a period in 2011, Judy undertook the role of Regional Director of the Western Australia Office.

Judy has a Bachelor of Arts degree (Double Psychology) from the Australian National University.
