Where will you be on 9 August 2011?

29 July 2011 | VIC/27

Knock knock. Who’s there? The 2011 Census of Population and Housing.

Starting today, 7,000 Victorian Census Collectors will start delivering Census forms.

With their trademark yellow satchel bag in hand and photo identification, Census Collectors will hand deliver Census forms and eCensus access codes to every Victorian household.

From the vineyards of Yarra Valley to the slopes of Mount Bulla, Census Collectors will travel by foot, car, boat, plane or any means necessary to make sure that on Census night, Tuesday, 9 August, every person in Victoria is accurately counted.

Victorian Census Director, Sam Thomas says you can expect a knock on the door shortly.

“The delivery process will take just over a week, with forms being delivered up until 7 August. After Census night, the process of picking up the completed forms starts so have your form on hand,” Mr Thomas says.

Mr Thomas believes many people will take advantage of eCensus, the convenient online way to complete your Census form.

“Completing your Census online is quick and easy, plus, once submitted, your Collector will be alerted by SMS and will not have to return to your house,” Mr Thomas adds.

It is expected that 30 per cent of the population will choose the eCensus option.
