Applications for Census Field Officers opening soon - register now!

The Australian Bureau of Statistics is seeking 38,000 Field Officers from across Australia to help deliver the 2016 Census of Population and Housing and you could be one of them!

Census Field Officers will help ensure every household in their assigned area is included in the Census, including delivery and collection of Census materials and following up with non-responding households.

Field Officers are:
  • Non-office based positions, requiring travel
  • From one month to three month casual positions, depending on the workload, with flexible working hours.

As a Field officer, you will:
  • Undertake a range of procedural, operational and administrative activities, following set processes.
  • Have the ability to read and navigate maps
  • Be self-motivated, with the ability to work autonomously and make decisions independently, when required
  • Earn $21.61 per hour (inclusive of 25% loading).

As a Field Officer, you must:
  • Know your local community
  • Be of reasonable fitness
  • Hold a current driver’s license
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet device
  • Undertake pre-employment checks
  • Hold Australian citizenship or have the legal right to work in Australia.

Job seekers from diverse backgrounds, including non-English speaking backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, are encouraged to register.
